Things are not always as they seem. In this video, Kim Varner begins with a story about two high school students who gave a classmate a ride home and were stopped shortly after dropping him off. The officer found their brief visit to the neighborhood “suspicious.”
“And I want you to understand that generally people will accuse you of what they would be guilty of under those circumstances. That doesn’t mean it’s true,” Varner says.
Why did the two boys get arrested, and what happened to them?
One went to court without representation. The other called Kim Varner for help. By Varner’s own admission, he struggled to find a theme to defend the young client, but he found one in the least likely of places.
Kim recounts how he found the theme for that client and illustrates how important a theme can be to the outcome a client case.
